d&b at Live Design’s Broadway Sound Master Classes, NYC

From 19th to 20th May the 2012 Broadway Sound Master Classes will offer inspiration to visitors eager to learn more about the world of sound design. Designers and audio professionals from across the industry will come together at New York University’s Tisch School of The Arts, 721 Broadway, with sessions covering design, conceptual ideas as well as the latest audio techniques.

Between 3:30 and 5:00 pm on Sunday 20th, John Taylor from d&b Education Development will present Sound from Loudspeaker to the Ear, during which John will take listeners through the basic principles of electroacoustics; what happens to the sound as it travels from the loudspeaker to the listener’s ear, how much damage the room does to the signal and what can be done about it.

Michael Eisenberg and Jason Waggoner from the US office will also be available to offer technical advice and to answer any questions about the company’s involvement with BSMC. For more information about how to register for any of the Broadway Sound Master Classes, please click here to visit Live Design’s website.

d&b at the Old Truman Brewery for ABTT London

With the d&b reputation for loudspeaker design firmly rooted in the careful blending of physical science and a certain magic, one could say that brewing is in the blood. So from 13th -14th June the new venue for the ABTT theatre show at the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London will suit d&b down to the ground. Find the GB team at stand 47 where the teenyweeny E4 and E5 and the comparably sized 4S and 5S will be on display, representing some of the more miniscule loudspeakers from the d&b Black and White product ranges; which for their size can produce what could be deemed a magical performance.

For those eager to learn more about the d&b blend of physics and a certain magic, Steve Jones from the GB Education and Application Support department will be presenting ‘Can you hear me at the back?’ on Wednesday 13th from 16:00 to 17:00 in the Seminar room. Explore the acoustic signal path from loudspeaker to the listener to find the formula for getting the sound you’ve lovingly nurtured through the console to every seat in the house.

Over the last fifteen years the Old Truman Brewery has reinvented itself, becoming a magnet for the arts. There's something about magnets and the arts that has an enchanting resonance for d&b; why not visit them on stand number 47 and find out what other magic they have up their sleeves? Or to find out more about the show visit ABTT.
