ArrayCalc
For both acoustical and safety reasons J- and Q-Series arrays should be designed using the d&b ArrayCalc V4 simulation tool. It runs exclusively on Microsoft Excel for Windows , Version 2000 or higher, or on Microsoft Excel for Mac , Version 2004. ArrayCalc supports d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers from the J-Series and Q-Series; it is used for planning system configurations. This includes defining the quantity and optimum aiming of loudspeakers, calculating subwoofer arrays and the time alignment of these to the main arrays, documenting weights and overall dimensions of arrays as well as producing printable rigging plots and parts lists. ArrayCalc calculates and displays the physical parameters of flown arrays including the mechanical load conditions within a column, load safety information, load values for rigging points and displays warnings should an overload occur. ArrayCalc uses a sophisticated mathematical model synthesizing each loudspeaker's wave front with an array of narrowly spaced point sources. Using complex data (phase information) level distribution is calculated in multiple frequency bands for up to three main audience areas and optionally for side seating tiers. ArrayCalc also calculates resulting dispersion of horizontally arrayed subwoofers at different LF bands and the delay values to achieve desired far-field coverage. The display of the phase responses of both Main and Sub Array at a selectable test point allows an applicable time alignment to be defined between flown and ground stacked parts of the system.

Q-Calc
d&b Q-Series Q1 arrays can either be designed using the d&b ArrayCalc calculator described above or the d&b Q-Calc Array calculators. Both Q-Calc calculators run exclusively on Microsoft Excel for Windows or Mac, version 2000 or higher. In order to cater for either stacked or flown arrays, two different versions of Q-Calc are available.
Q-CalcStack is used to aid the planning, dimensions and aiming of ground stacked Q1s and Q-SUBs.
Q-CalcRig is recommended for the acoustical and mechanical design of all flown Q1 arrays, including the mechanical load conditions within a column, safety information and values for rigging points. The electroacoustical component of both calculators determines the level distribution over distance for up to three audience areas.

TransCalc and InstallCalc
d&b TransCalc and InstallCalc are Microsoft Excel based spreadsheets for planning Transformer and Installer flying system set ups. Loudspeaker array information can be entered and the spreadsheets then provide the flying system settings, weights for rigging points, cluster dimensions and rigging plots. Rigging plots and complete array part lists can be printed. Export functions are included to allow cluster information to be imported directly to CAD and electroacoustical simulation software.
TransCalc/InstallCalc now provides a graphic display for up to four listening planes in 2D projections showing the aiming points of all C3 and C4-TOP cabinets of the array.
