The V8 is a 3-way passive design housing 2 x 10" LF drivers, one hornloaded 8" MF driver and two 1.4" exit HF compression drivers with 2.5" voicecoils mounted to a dedicated waveshaping device. The symmetrical dipolar arrangement of the neodymium LF drivers around the centrally mounted coaxial MF and HF components allows a smooth overlap of the adjacent frequency bands in the crossover design. This results in an exceptional 80° horizontal constant directivity dispersion control nominally being maintained down to 250 Hz. The mechanical and acoustical design enables flown vertical arrays of up to twenty four loudspeakers. It can be used in columns of purely V8 loudspeakers or combined with V12s and / or with V-SUBs. The V8 cabinet is constructed from marine plywood and has an impact and weather protected PCP (Polyurea Cabinet Protection) finish. The front of the loudspeaker cabinet is protected by a rigid metal grill backed by an acoustically transparent foam. Each side panel incorporates a handle, while two additional recessed grips are provided at the rear bottom of the cabinet.
The d&b audiotechnik loudspeaker range is designed exclusively for operation with d&b amplifiers. These provide power as well as comprehensive control and protection functions tailored to achieve the performance, reliability and longevity associated with the d&b System approach. The d&b D80 amplifier is recommended to drive the V8. The d&b D20 and 30D amplifiers can also be used with the appropriate loudspeaker configuration selected.

The 3-way dipolar, passive loudspeaker shall consist of two 10" low frequency driver with a neodymium magnet assembly, one 8" mid range driver and two 1.4" exit neodymium compression drivers with 2.5" diaphragms mounted to a dedicated wave shaping device and a passive crossover network. The loudspeaker shall only be operated by a dedicated, compatible controller amplifier.
The cabinet enclosure shall be made from marine plywood with an impact and weather protected PCP (Polyurea Cabinet Protection) finish.The drivers shall be protected by a rigid metal grill backed by an acoustically transparent foam. The cabinet shall incorporate one handle in each side panel and two additional recessed grips at the rear bottom.The cabinet shall incorporate a three point rigging system for the assembly of vertical line source arrays of up to 24 cabinets in conjunction with a dedicated flying frame.
The connection panel on the back shall be recessed and fitted with speakon NLT4 F/M sockets (NL4 M or EP5 connectors as an option).
The loudspeaker shall have a nominal horizontal dispersion angle of 80°. The vertical dispersion angle of the assembled array shall be determined by the geometry of the splay angles between the cabinets, which shall be adjustable in a range of 0° to 14° in 1° increments.
The power handling capacity shall be 500 W RMS and 2000 W peak (10 ms). The frequency response (–5 dB) measured on axis shall be 67 Hz to 18 kHz with a maximum sound pressure of at least 139 dB.
The dimensions (WxHxD) shall not exceed 700 x 310 x 406 mm (27.5" x 12.2" x 18") and shall weigh no more than 34 kg (75 lb).
The loudspeaker shall be the V8 by d&b audiotechnik GmbH.
