The Y-SUB is an actively driven cardioid subwoofer powered by a single amplifier channel. It houses two long excursion neodymium drivers in an integrated cardioid setup, an 18” driver in a bass-reflex chamber facing to the front and a 12” driver in a two chamber bandpass design radiating towards the rear. The cardioid dispersion pattern resulting from this arrangement avoids the distribution of energy behind the system, providing the greatest accuracy of low frequency reproduction and reducing the energy dispersed into unwanted areas. The Y-SUB is fitted with three point rigging hardware and can be flown in a column of purely Y subwoofers, at the top of a Y array or used in a ground stacked setup. The cabinet is constructed from marine plywood and has an impact and weather protected PCP (Polyurea Cabinet Protection) finish. The front of the loudspeaker cabinet is protected by a rigid metal grill backed by an acoustically transparent foam, whilst the side panels incorporate two handles with four wheels mounted to the rear. An optional transport lid protects the front of the subwoofer during transit.
The d&b audiotechnik loudspeaker range is designed exclusively for operation with d&b amplifiers. These provide power as well as comprehensive control and protection functions tailored to achieve the performance, reliability and longevity associated with the d&b System approach. The d&b D80 amplifier is recommended to drive the Y-SUB. The d&b D20, 10D, 30D and D6 amplifiers can also be used with the appropriate loudspeaker configuration selected.

The loudspeaker shall be an integrated cardioid subwoofer consisting of a 18" driver in a bass-reflex design radiating to the front and a 12" driver in a two chamber bandpass design radiating to the rear, with both drivers to be powered by a single amplifier channel.
The loudspeaker shall only be operated by a dedicated, compatible controller amplifier.
The cabinet enclosure shall be made from marine plywood with an impact and weather protected PCP (Polyurea Cabinet Protection) finish.
The drivers shall be protected by a rigid metal grill backed by an acoustically transparent foam. The cabinet shall incorporate two handles in each side panel and four transport wheels at the cabinet's rear.
The cabinet shall incorporate a three point rigging system for the assembly of vertical arrays in conjunction with a dedicated flying frame.
The cabinet shall allow splay angle settings of 2.5° between subsequent cabinets.
The connection panel on the back shall be recessed and fitted with speakon NLT4 F/M sockets (NL4 M or EP5 connectors as an option).
The power handling capacity shall be 600 W RMS and 2400 W peak (10 ms). The frequency response (–5 dB) measured on axis shall be 39 Hz to 140 Hz with a maximum sound pressure of at least 134 dB.
The dimensions (WxHxD) shall not exceed 630 x 500 x 804 mm (24.8" x 19.7" x 31.6") and shall weigh no more than 52 kg (115 lb).
The loudspeaker shall be the Y-SUB by d&b audiotechnik GmbH.
