Why is the aluminium rigging part at the back not black?

This part is thermally coupled to the 10° MF driver and serves for its thermal cooling. A black part would absorbe sun and heat up.

Is the d&b Q-Series intended to be used as a downfill for the J-Series?

This makes, taking the horizontal dispersion into account, no sense. The horizontal dispersion angle has to be larger for smaller "throws", also the vertical wavefront has to be identical for proper coupling. For that reason the J12 is the only choice for that purpose.

What is the recommended J8/J12 to J-SUB ratio?

It is highly depending on your type of venue, set up and program. A rule of thumb says one J-SUB to two J8 or J12.

Is it possible to mix J8 and J12 in the same column?

The design of the J-Series loudspeakers makes it possible to combine the J8 and J12 in the same array. As it is the case for all line arrays, combinations of those loudspeakers should be well thought through. Using J12 for the mid or far throw section af an array might give to much overlap between the left and right source and will result in echo effects. As rule of thumb the two lowest cabinets in an array can be J12 without audible interference between left and right.

Is the vertical dispersion of the J8 and J12 different?

The vertical dispersion of the J8 and J12 is identical. This makes the combination of both speakers in the same array easier and efficient. The only difference between the loudspeakers is their horizontal dispersion.

What is the vertical dispersion of J8 / J12

There is no vertical dispersion expressed in degrees. The vertical dispersion is a proportional dispersion wich gets narrower with increasing frequency. In theory the dispersion is 0 degrees for a infinite high frequency. The 7 degrees maximum splay between two boxes result in ripples of approx. 6dB in the frequency response for high frequecies in 20m distance on the axis between the two cabinets.

Does d&b offer an inclometer / laser system?

Z5300 Flying frame is prepared to take industry standard inclometerws such as Rieker or ProSight units. d&b does not offer an own system.
