Engineering Support Manager

d&b audiotechnik Corporation is the North American subsidiary of d&b audiotechnik GmbH & Co. KG, specializing in the sale, service, technical support, education, and logistics of professional loudspeakers.
 
Position Summary:
We are seeking people-focused, detail-oriented, and organized Engineering Support Manager to create and develop the Engineering Support department at d&b audiotechnik Corporation. This position is based at the Signal Hill, CA office. This individual will manage the Engineering Support department, which will be responsible for assisting the Business Development, Sales, and Education and Application Support (EAS) departments with system designs support, project management, and related documentation. Support of d&b dealers and key end-users, consultants, and architects are also a key element of the position. They will provide technical input regarding new or retrofit systems and suggest design and technical alternatives to realize project objectives.

Essential functions and work duties: 
  • Hires, trains, develops, and provides ongoing leadership and guidance to Engineering Support Team.
  • Continuously evaluates performance of team and periodically provides performance feedback, both informally and formally.
  • Provides CAD drawings, specifications, and technical details used for fabrication and installation of d&b systems.
  • Supports the design and engineering of complete systems, including the interface with related systems.
  • Provides required project management support and documentation.
  • Manages change orders and other project and system revisions.
  • Coordinates with appropriate departments to ensure professional and collaborative workflow and support.
  • Will participate in planning and cost management to meet departmental and corporate objectives.
  • Identifies areas for process improvement that will allow the Engineering Support team to better serve both internal and external customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when working with diverse or international groups.
  • Strong ability to manage mutliple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Superior customer service skills when interacting with both internal and external customers.
  • Extensive background in audio technologies and systems, acoustics and project management.
  • Experienced with audio and engineering design software platforms such as EASE, AutoCAD, BIM, Revit, etc.
  • Full understanding of how to read and understand specifications, drawings and plans, change orders, bid documents, etc.
  • Must maintain a comprehensive knowledge of A/V systems so as to support in a well-informed manner engineering and project management that meet customer requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, required.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of experience in A/V.
  • 5+ years experience in managing people.
  • Valid and current drivers license.

Physical Requirements:
  • Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers, and eyesight to read detailed documents and drawings.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Adequate hearing for normal conversations, internet meetings, and audio systems.
The posted pay range reflects what d&b audiotechnik Corporation reasonably anticipates to pay for this role. This range depends on various factors such as job responsibilities, qualifications, experience, and location.
