Introducing the
U-Series

Redefining the next generation of compact multipurpose point-source loudspeakers

Setting new standards for design, electroacoustical performance, and system architecture freedom, the U-Series is a radical reimagining of what compact multipurpose point-source loudspeakers can achieve.

The U-Series contains three models with passive (U3, U5, U7) and, for the first time, networked (U3N, U5N, U7N) variants. U-Series Passive variants use standard d&b amplifiers and workflow. The Networked variants offer a wide range of power, audio, and control/monitoring connectivity options, configuration possibilities and redundancy modes. With U-Series, the loudspeaker system adapts to the requirements and challenges of the applications. That is real system architecture freedom.

Design

At the core of the U-Series concept we find a complex acoustic design that requires a unique industrial design based on innovative manufacturing techniques.

U-Series exhibits an elegant, discreet design with no visible rigging points or handles to seamlessly integrate into any installation project and durable construction and finish to withstand the rigors mobile applications.

Electroacoustics

U-Series acoustical concept features a bipole LF driver arrangement that results in outstanding vertical directivity control starting from 500 Hz for all models.

Each cabinet has a tool-free (patent pending) rotatable high-frequency waveguide-horn assembly that ensures extremely accurate HF dispersion control, increase headroom, reduced distortion and extraordinary off-axis behavior.

All 3 models exhibit a common full-range tonality and low-frequency extension down to 55 Hz (-5 dB), which improves sonic consistency and simplifies system design work.

The Passive and Networked variants of each model are identical physically and acoustically and deliver the same performance regardless of the amplifier or power topology.

Identical Performance Unprecedented Flexibility

One System, Two Variants, No Compromise

System Architecture Freedom

Until now, d&b loudspeaker systems have relied on a 4 channel DSP amplifier system architecture that is powerful, predictable and reliable, but , by definition is a predetermined, fixed architecture. The U-Series changes this. There is now a choice between centralized or decentralized electronics in different topologies, from star to daisy-chained and beyond.

While U-Series Passive variants are powered by d&b amplifiers, the Networked variants can be powered by AC, PoE++, or both for dual power redundancy, receive signal via MILAN, Analog, or both for dual signal redundancy, and can be operated via d&b’s R1 software control or offline with NFC control.

In “single cable operation mode”, power, signal, remote monitoring and control (PoE++, Milan, R1) can be supplied by single CAT6 Ethernet connection, bringing very significant savings in deployment efforts and cabling infrastructure costs.

B10-SUB. B10N-SUB.

The compact multipurpose subwoofers B10 and B10N optimally pair with the U-Series and other compact d&b loudspeaker systems. B10/B10N feature dual high performance drivers, housed within a bass-reflex cabinet design with a new,  sophisticated port design. The versatile form factor makes these subwoofers an ideal solution for small footprint applications or set-ups where low heights are necessary. Based on the same technology as the U-Series Networked variants, the B10N provides all hybrid-topology advantages, offering system architecture freedom also for high-impact low-end extension. The high efficient subwoofer design of the B10 models achieve their full performance with 5D amplifiers.

The Bi10 and Bi10N are the installation specific equivalents of the B10 and B10N subwoofers. Providing the identical acoustical design and form factor the Bi10 and Bi10N differ only in cabinet construction and mounting hardware. Both are an ideal low end extension where full bandwith sound meets minimal space.
