Our highlights

Take the stage: Your onboarding week.

Every year on September 1st, it’s time to take the stage! All new apprentices and dual study students start together and explore what makes d&b unique – from A for acoustics lab to P for production. During a live sound demo, you’ll experience firsthand what our loudspeakers and subwoofers are capable of. In team-building sessions, you’ll grow together as a group, make connections, and build your first professional network. And our leaders? Easily approachable – in a dedicated Q&A session, you’ll have the opportunity to interview them personally. Curiosity is highly encouraged! You’ll also complete essential foundational training as a team, covering topics such as IT, occupational safety, and environmental protection. With strong connections and the right groove, you’ll be perfectly set up for your first year of training.

Step beyond your comfort zone: Internal internships

Working in HR while being part of production. Joining event operations as a business informatics student. We want you to broaden your horizons and experience d&b as a whole – and our internal internships make this possible. All our apprentices and dual study students spend time supporting our production teams, accompany our event teams to live events, or join our HR colleagues at career and trade fairs. This keeps you close to the core business and helps you understand how everything at d&b comes together. Do you have your own idea of where you’d like to gain insight? We’d love to hear it – just reach out to us.

Skills that matter: Our training concept.

Future skills instead of technical jargon! Of course, you’ll learn everything that defines your field – just as outlined in the official training curriculum of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) or your university. But a successful career is about more than technical expertise. That’s why we equip you with the tools for real collaboration – from project management and communication to conflict resolution within teams. Our training concept grows with you, ensuring you’re always prepared for what comes next.

By your side: Dedicated and qualified trainers

At d&b, you’re never on your own. Alongside our HR experts, a dedicated trainer will support you throughout your entire journey with us. Over time, a relationship built on trust develops – one where no question is ever unwelcome. We listen to you, take you seriously, and support you where it truly matters: strengthening your skills, working toward shared goals, and helping you grow through challenges. Confidential, personal, and built on a strong training partnership.

Our application process: From the first conversation to a clear decision.

#1 Initial digital interview.

Our first meeting takes place as a video interview. Usually, two people will join: someone from Talent Acquisition and someone from your functional area. We want to learn who you are, what drives you, and which questions you have for us. Whether it’s about the training program, the structure of your dual study program, or d&b in general – this is your space to ask anything.

#2 In-person meeting.

If we feel there’s a strong match, we’ll invite you to Backnang. On site, you’ll meet your HR contact, your trainers, and your future manager. We want to get to know you and learn more about your motivation, your goals, and your energy. Whenever possible, we’ll also give you a tour of our premises and introduce you to your future team.

#3 Clear decision.

Are we a good fit? Is d&b the right place for your apprenticeship or dual study program? After the personal meeting, all parties involved will make a decision – and we will get back to you promptly with an acceptance or rejection: clear, direct, and respectful.

Meet us: Live. In person. At career and study fairs.

Do you still have questions? Or would you like to meet the d&b crew in person? A conversation says more than 500 typed words.
Say hello – and visit us at one of our upcoming fairs or events. We look forward to meeting you!

Your questions, clearly answered.

How and where do I apply?

The easiest way is via our online job portal – your application will be submitted directly to us, and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Still exploring your options? Here’s an overview of all apprenticeships and dual study programs at d&b.

When can I apply for the new apprenticeship or study year?

You can apply from November of the previous year for a start in September. Our tip: applying early gives you the widest choice of opportunities.

What should my application look like?

(1) Cover letter

This is your opportunity to show who you are and why you want to start your apprenticeship or dual study program at d&b. For example, tell us:

  • which school you attend and the qualification you are aiming for
  • which subjects you are particularly strong in and what interests you
  • how you became aware of your chosen apprenticeship or study program
  • what motivates you to join d&b
  • anything else you would like us to know about you

(2) CV (Curriculum Vitae)

Your CV provides a concise overview of you – both professionally and personally:

  • personal details
  • educational background
  • language and software skills
  • initial practical experience (e.g. internships, student jobs)
  • special interests, hobbies, and sports
  • if applicable, social engagement (e.g. voluntary work)
  • if applicable, awards or participation in competitions

(3) Certificates and supporting documents

Please upload your three most recent school reports as digital documents. You are also welcome to include additional certificates or supporting documents.

One large file or separate documents?

Both options are fine. Please ensure that each file does not exceed 5 MB. We recommend uploading your documents in PDF format.

I decided late to pursue an apprenticeship / a degree – is that a problem?

Not at all. A year abroad, traveling, internships, or personal projects – everything you’ve experienced during this time provides valuable insights and helps shape who you are today. Tell us how you used your orientation phase or “gap year.” We’re listening.

What does the selection process look like?

Our application process at d&b consists of three steps:

(1) Initial digital interview

Our first meeting takes place as a video interview. Usually, two people will join: someone from Talent Acquisition and someone from your functional area. We want to get to know who you are, what drives you, and which questions you have for us. Whether it’s about the structure of your apprenticeship, the different stages of your dual study program, or d&b itself – this is your space to ask anything.

(2) In-person meeting

If we feel there’s a strong match, we’ll invite you to Backnang. On site, you’ll meet your HR contact, your trainers, and your future manager. We want to experience you in person and learn more about your motivation, your goals, and your energy. Whenever possible, we’ll also give you a tour of our premises and introduce you to your future team.

(3) Clear decision

Are we a good fit? Is d&b the right place for your apprenticeship or dual study program? After the personal meeting, all parties involved will make a decision – and we will get back to you promptly with an acceptance or rejection: clear, direct, and respectful.

How does a video interview work?

It’s simple: you will receive a link via email that allows you to join the video call directly in your browser. No account or special software is required.

Please make sure your microphone and camera are working. A computer or laptop is recommended for optimal audio and video quality. Smartphones can also be used, but quality may be more limited.

Who will be part of my interview?

We’re looking forward to meeting you – which is why several colleagues would like to get to know you in person: your future trainer, your future manager, and a contact person from our HR team.

If time allows, we’ll also introduce you to your team.

What is the d&b dress code?

At d&b, we value diversity. Come as you feel comfortable – while considering your role and the occasion. For example: comfortable clothing when setting up events, more formal attire for customer presentations.

For interviews, we recommend smart casual: polished, professional, and authentically you.
