The 42S is a passive 2-way loudspeaker featuring a 4.5" neodymium LF driver and a 0.75" HF dome tweeter with 120° x 90° dispersion. 

The optional d&b Z5429 42S back box and Z5430 42S back box grille can be used for flush mounting the loudspeaker into ceilings or walls. The asymmetric cabinet shape of the 42S allows the dispersion to be adjusted +/- 20° in five-degree increments within the back box.

Providing a full-range frequency response, the loudspeaker can be used as a stand-alone system or supplemented by d&b subwoofers.

The enclosure is injection moulded with an impact resistant paint finish. The front of the cabinet is protected by a rigid metal grille. Two M8 threaded inserts are incorporated in the back panel to connect to different rigging accessories. The loudspeaker cabinet and most accessories are also available with Weather Resistance (WR), Sea Water Resistance (SWR) and in Special Colours (SC) that can be executed in all RAL and NCS colour codes.
